Good News for Jobseekers

Good news for jobseekers, with above average employment growth in the first half of 2019 expected Australia-wide.

Recent data from the Department of Jobs and Small Business indicate that the latest Internet Vacancy Index (IVI) had increased by 1.3%, taking levels to their highest in seven years.

The IVI takes into account around 68% of all vacancies advertised on the internet, and is based on a count of new online job advertisements posted each month on SEEK, CareerOne and Australian JobSearch. The number of vacancies advertised via these websites rose across all states, indicating an increase in the number of opportunities available for jobseekers.

Technicians and Trades Workers were one of the best performing industries, with the data showing a 1.9% increase in advertised jobs.

The latest IVI data indicates that the unemployment rate, currently holding steady at 5%, could fall in the coming months resulting in an overall improvement in hiring conditions.

If you’re seeking work within the Printing, Trades and Services or Warehouse and Logistics industries, now could be the perfect time to see what opportunities are available for you.
