Avoid the Resume Clichés that make Recruiters Cringe

Phrases such as ‘results driven’ and ‘ambitious’ seem to be typical resume vernacular, but many recruiters see them as cliché, and not an accurate portrayal of your ability.

Recruitment Grape Vine compiles a great list of the terms to avoid on your resume and cover letter, and why they could be improved.

For example, describing yourself as ‘results driven’ or a ‘team player’ sounds positive, but employers are more interested in HOW specifically you display these qualities. It is important to focus on these details, rather than generic and overused descriptors.

Your resume is often the first impression an employer has of you, thus it is important to articulate your skills in the best way possible. Find the full list of phrases that make recruiters cringe.
