Knitting for a Purpose

Stockdale proudly supports Knitting for a Purpose. A great cause to help the community.

Knitting for a purpose was formed in 2013 by local community member Jenny, who identified a need to increase social connectedness within the Sutherland Shire. Meeting every Friday morning from 10am to 12pm, the group knits items to support various projects around the Sutherland Shire area and greater Sydney.

In 2015 the ladies knitted hundreds of sleeping bags, beanies and scarves for members of the community who are homeless and socially disadvantaged. They were a great contributer to the Homeless Connect Event in Sydney’s Town Hall in July, donating over 500 items to those in need.

The group is always happy to welcome new members and are very excited to teach people who may not be able to knit! The group are able to provide participants with all patterns, needles and knitting yarn.

It you would like to join Kitting for a Purpose or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact Orana Hub Coastal at Shop 38, 52 President Avenue Caringbah, Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.
